"Chris Mann is a breath of fresh air…a true artist…few and far between" --Brian McKnight
"His lyrics are romantic, his melodies are soulful and his voice is exceptional and he has the charisma to be one of the next great singer/songwriters." --Boston Music Spotlight
With a soulful, powerful voice, hook-filled songs and dynamic live performances, Chris Mann has emerged on the scene as an artist-to-watch. Chris' blend of classically-trained tenor and contemporary pop vocals is a sound that is rare in the world of Pop music today, drawing comparisons from Robin Thicke to George Michael.
Chris began his professional career as an opera singer in Italy after graduating from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Classical Voice. His path was forever changed when he visited an Italian psychic on the opera's closing night; The cards were overturned and his destiny as a future pop star was revealed and consequently Chris returned to the U.S. to concentrate on his true calling--writing and performing his own pop songs.
Chris has worked with music industry heavy-hitters including Greg Wells (One Republic, Katy Perry, Mika), Walter Afanasieff (Mariah Carey, Celine Dion), Martin Terefe (Jason Mraz, James Morrison, KT Tunstall), Mark Hammond (Josh Groban), and Humberto Gatica (Babyface, Andrea Bocelli). Chris' upcoming record, produced by Bleu (Boys Like Girls, Jonas Brothers), mixes organic live instruments and vintage sounds with modern beats and rocking bass lines giving it an original sound all it's own.
Chris has toured with Grammy Award-winner India.Arie and Tony Award-winner Idina Menzel and has performed at numerous high profile events including the Sundance Film Festival, the pre-Oscars Young Hollywood Party and the American Film Institute Awards, where he performed for the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts.
His voice has been featured in numerous films and television shows including Avatar, Letters to Juliet, Sex and the City 2, 2012, The Philanthropist, Percy Jackson and the Lightening Thief and many more. Chris is also a principle voice on Fox's hit show Glee, whose soundtrack recordings have sold over 5 million iTunes downloads.
Chris' videos on Youtube, Facebook and Myspace are quickly making him an Internet phenomenon with thousands of daily hits and hundreds of thousands of overall views. He has been adding to his global fan base by thoroughly embracing social media platforms like twitter and his humorous weekly blog posts 'MANNblogMonday' at ChrisMannMusic.com. His enormous Twitter, Facebook and MySpace followings exhibit Chris extensive communication with his MANNfans online.
Growing up in Wichita, Kansas, Chris began playing the piano and performing at a young age and decided to take music seriously when he realized that singing was in his blood; an unearthed stack of old 45's he believed to be Frank Sinatra recordings were actually sung by his Grandfather's voice. Chris then immersed himself in the classic Sinatra and Tony Bennett records and also became inspired by R&B and Pop artists like Brian McKnight and George Michael. "I always knew I wanted my music to be as diverse as my influences. I love to write and sing intimate ballads but also love to feel an up tempo beat and make people dance--I'm an entertainer either way."
