Chrissie O’Dell & One Hot Mess have been percolating under the radar with their own brand of Blues, until their July 2010 debut release If I Had a Dime. This “downtown record” plays 10 eclectic & gritty Blues bombshells, 9 self-written, that show-off a powerful & emotional vocal delivery with switch-blade sharp lyrics about true to life stories.
If I Had a Dime is now receiving worldwide airplay on 200+ stations and counting. It is quite an amazing feat for a virtually unknown artist to be played in countries as far away as Macedonia, Croatia, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, Italy & Spain, with more requests for copies of the CD coming in daily. Without big label backing, but a heart full of determination, Chrissie’s CD has reached #15 on the National Weekly Blues Roots Charts & is currently #3 on BB King’s Bluesville (XM Sirius).
One Hot Mess features a cast of heavy weight musicians: John Bendy on Guitar, Bassist Craig Costa, “Papa” John Mole on Drums, Bill Quinn on the Hammond Organ, with backing vocals by Libby Cabello & Nancy Bahnsen. The dynamic front woman, Chrissie O’Dell & her high energy band, One Hot Mess, are unique in that they pull their audience in close and keep them there. Together they have the extraordinary ability to turn a first time audience into old friends in one performance.
On October 10, 2010, Chrissie & the band won over some more friends at the Long Island Blues Society Regional IBC and now will go on to represent the LIBS in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge 2011 this February.
