Zarkana is one of Cirque du Soleil's newest and most breathtaking shows to date, full of the wonder and thrills that have become the benchmark of every Cirque du Soleil production. Unlike some other Cirque du Soleil productions, Zarkana contains a more definite story line that is bound to even further grab the attention of ticket holders. The story introduces a number of unique and dazzling characters (including Canadian singers Garou and Casiopée) alongside exotic and mysterious locals, all of which set a new precedent for the circus. While there are no national tours for Zarkana yet, audiences in New York can buy tickets to experience the magic of this brand new show.
While the show is a surreal take on the variety show, the plot of Zarkana follows a magician, Zark (Garou), who has lost the love of his life, Lia (Casiopée). With the loss of his love also comes the loss of his magic, and he begs the gods for the return of them both. As Zark prays, he is transported to a surreal world filled with strange creatures and even stranger women that resemble Lia. As with all of Cirque du Soleil's shows, Zarkana will feature a number of astonishing acrobatic performances, including various balancing acts, the wheel of death, and a banquine act.
Cirque du Soleil's Zarkana is playing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City beginning on June 29. As the show is seasonal it will go on "tour" to the Madrid Arena in Spain, with ticket sales beginning on November 9. Tickets will be available for performances at the Grand Kremlin Palace in Moscow beginning on February 4, 2012. While Russian and Spanish audiences will have to wait for Zarkana to go on "tour", audiences in New York City can currently buy tickets for this Cirque du Soleil show that is bound to become a classic.
