      Su amplia formación académica -que incluye Master Classes y seminarios con músicos como Fred Frith, Alex Acuña, Will Kennedy, Bill Bruford, Pat Mastelotto, Allan Holdsworth, Gary Husband, Danny Gotlieb, Mike Stern, Joey Heredia, Joe Zawinul, Alphonso Johnson, Makoto Ozone, John Scofield, Giovanni Hidalgo, Dave Weckl y Clarence Penn - se consolida con una extensa experiencia laboral.

      Su dominio del instrumento, eclecticismo y amplitud conceptual, le han permitido tocar con artistas tan diversos como Bill Carrothers, Jonathan Kreisberg, Tim Berne, Eli Degibri, Dave Fuzcinsky, Elliot Sharp, Ikue Mori, Zeena Parkins, Jay Rodriguez, Elio Villafranca, Dean Bowman, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Statements Dúo, Jarry Singla, Dave McMurdo, Alex Machacek, Marco Capelli, Brent Jensen, Randy Vincent, Rob Walker, Luis Salinas, Dave O'Higgins, Tom Cawley, Jack De Keyzer, David Rotundo, Luis Nacht, Beto Caletti.

      A su intensa actividad como sideman y su trabajo como cesionista de estudio, se suma su tarea docente y su trabajo liderando numerosos proyectos como: "Hernán Hecht X-Pression Quartet", con el cual editó su primera producción discográfica "X-Pression Quartet.Mx" en 2005, su nuevo proyecto "Gru-B Project", con el cual editará su disco a comienzos del 2009. A su vez Hernán es pieza fundamental del RHA trío, Brian Allen || Hernán Hecht Dúos, Brainkiller Trio, Rick Parker MX Quartet, Cráneo de Jade, Cuarteto Mexicano de Brian Allen, Elumen junto a Tony Malaby, Jacob Koller y Brian Allen, el trío de Bill Carrothers, Nicolás Santella trío, el Quinteto de Israel Cupich, SHO Trío, Juan Alzate Quartet, Ely Guerra, Ximena Sariñana y Natalia Lafourcade.

      Su constante interés y motivación por accionar nuevos proyectos y contribuir a la circulación de la música creativa, lo ha llevado a crear y coordinar del festival "JazzHabito", "ArtLife JazzFest" y "Marathon de Jazz a Favor de los Damnificados por los Huracanes en Chiapas y Quintana Roo".

      Ha tocado en Argentina, México, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, España, Francia, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Puerto Rico y Chile.

      Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1975, he studied the career of drums performance at Argentina’s Technological Institute for Contemporary Music (ITMC). Took private drum lessons with Pablo LaPorta and Fernando Martinez, and has taken master-classes and internacional seminars with musicians like Fred Frith, Alex Acuña, Will Kennedy, Bill Bruford, Pat Mastelotto, Allan Holdsworth, Gary Husband, Danny Gotllieb, Mike Stern, Joey Heredia, Joe Zawinul, Alphonso Johnson, Makoto Ozone, John Scofield, Giovanni Hidalgo, Dave Weckl and Clarence Penn. Hecht has been an instructor since 1994, teaching music classes at Argentina’s ITMC and the schools G. Martell, Fermatta and Desarrollo Integral Musical (DIM) in Mexico City, where he has been based since 1997. He has given lectures and seminars in USA, Argentina and Mexico.

      He has also played with Bill Carrothers, Jonathan Kreisberg, Tim Berne, Eli Degibri, Dave Fuzcinsky, Elliot Sharp, Ikue Mori, Zeena Parkins, Jay Rodriguez, Elio Villafranca, Dean Bowman, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Statements Dúo, Jarry Singla, Dave McMurdo, Alex Machacek, Marco Capelli, Brent Jensen, Randy Vincent, Rob Walker, Luis Salinas, Dave O'Higgins, Tom Cawley, Jack De Keyzer, David Rotundo, Luis Nacht, Beto Caletti.

      He leads two projects: "X-Pression Quartet", whose first CD titled "X-Pression Quartet.Mx" was released in 2005, and "Gru-B Project", with whom he will release a CD in 2009. He’s also the drummer of the seminal free-jazz cooperative trio Craneo de Jade, and member of Brian Allen’s Mexican Project, Brainkiller Trio, Nicolas Santella Trio, Israel Cupich’s Quartet and Quintet, RHA Trio, Trio SHO, and singer Ely Guerra, Ximena Sariñana and Natalia Lafourcade.

      He has recorded in over 60 CD’s in Mexico, 12 of which have worldwide distribution. He has played in Argentina, Mexico, USA, England, Spain, France, Thailand, Colombia, Venezuela, Puerto Rico and Chile.

      He created and coordinated the festivals "JazzHabito" (2002), "ArtLife JazzFest" (2003) and the “Jazz Marathon for the Victims of the Hurricanes in Chiapas and Quintana Roo” (2005). He wrote the music for the Mexican film “Todos los Besos” (2007) and for the documentary "Omine Patris", based on the work of the British visual artist Damien Hirst.
