      MORE INFO ABOUT Jason Greenlaw

BIOGRAPHY My name is Jason Greenlaw. I was born August 13, 1973 to James Greenlaw and Verda Lee Riley. I am the youngest sibling from both of my parents. My mother had 10 children. My father had 27! Yep, you can say I'm spoiled Johnny Rotten! My journey in music began at an early age. I grew up listening to the Commodores and Bee Gees with my older brothers. There was always a taste of Motown in our home being my family is from the inner city of Detroit, MI. I fell in love with music and dance around the age of 10. I started breakdancing around this time with my Godbrother who was big influence on me at the time. He named our dance group The Rock Steady Crew. We won some local talent shows and had a great time doing it. I was really into the beats of early rap music. I still love rap today but it's nothing like the early stuff. I fell in love with rock music around the age of 14 from the first time I heard "Why Can't This Be Love" by Van Halen or should I say Van Haggar. Sammy had taken the reigns at this point. I was an eighties love child so I endured the heyday of bands such as Bon Jovi, Twisted Sister, Whitesnake, Cinderella, White Lion, Y & T, Vixen, Femme Fatale, etc. By the late eighties I was introduced to Metal! Megadeth, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Testament, Sanctuary, etc. This was a huge change in my interest in music for it was so forbidden to my culture but I embraced it with open arms. By the time I was a Senior in High School. I had dropped my preppy friends and made all new metal head friends and my involvement in the music scene took off like a rocket! I became the lead singer of a local speed band called Prophecy Jinxed. After 6 months with these guys the lead guitarist quit on us and a guitar was placed in my hand. Two weeks later I was playing "Seek and Destroy by Metallica all the way through! I was hooked. After my freshman year of college. I transfered schools and ended up in a larger city and state for that matter and started my own band. Channel Groove. With myself having roots in metal and the other two of the trio having roots in jazz and funk. We sounded like Megadeth raped the Red Hot Chili Peppers! I got my first taste of the stage and playing venues. After opening for Helmet at a show in Memphis, TN. We were on our way to record in New York but that dreamed was crushed when my drummer broke his leg and never recovered fully from it. We disbanned and went our seperate ways. I came home only to reunite with some guys from my freshman year and had the opportunity to play in a very cool five piece called Shed 55 (you guys rocked and I miss you all!) After the Shed days, life became about real jobs, relationships, way more drugs and alcohol. Well like anyone who over indulges in these things I paved a way to depression and a broken heart. Along the way, came more bad relationships, decisions, a child, a marriage, a divorce, a rehab! But out of this chaos came a desired relationship with Christ. And with that came the rekindling of my desire to play again. I started writing songs about my experiences and put them to music. I played my first show sober Jan of O5! It was so great but I was a nervous wreck. I've been working on these arrangements for the last two years and they are finally coming together in an upcoming album (Thanks Chad, this means the world to me, and your music will definitely get the attention it deserves from the world). I am also currently playing in a Christian Trio called BY HIS GRACE. (Keep Rocking for God, Brian & Bob)! Last but not least I have been recently added into the lineup of Unfaithful Servant, Bass and Vocals (don't let the name fool you). The name simply means not dedicated to one style or genre of music. Husband and wife duo James and Trish Hinchey (the founders) are very talented and gifted musicians that have alot to offer through their music to this broken hearted world! Playing with Unfaithful Servant allowed me to really dig into the surface of my musical ability. Playing a year’s worth of venues such as Juanitas, and the Isle of Capri Casinos really developed my stage presence and style! Having recently left Unfaithful Servant I am still chasing my dream one song at a time by putting out great music from the soul! God has been so good to me and Unto Him Be All the Glory! I'm very proud of the songs on the album. For the effort behind them are not in vain. Jason Greenlaw
