Kenny G's proficiency with tenor, alto, and soprano saxophones has made him one of the definitive smooth jazz musicians in the world. He is the biggest-selling instrumental musicians of our time and holds the world record for playing the longest note ever recorded on a saxophone. Kenny G has four multi-platinum albums, has won 17 Grammys over the span of his career, and played tour dates to crowds of devoted fans. Kenny G's latest album, Namaste India with Rahul Sharma, has delighted audiences with the combination of smooth jazz and tranquil Indian rhythms. Kenny G will be playing some of these songs and his hits on his 2011 concert schedule that's littered with European and US tour dates.
A Seattle native, Kenneth Bruce Gorelick began playing the alto sax in junior high, eventually joining his high school's jazz band as first chair. While still in high school, he played for Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra and was soon signed as a solo artist by Clive Davis himself. While his self-titled, debut album went gold, his next two albums -- G Force and Gravity -- went platinum and launched his career. Kenny G's next four albums went multi-platinum, with 1992's Breathless reaching #2 on the Billboard 200, winning a Grammy for Best Instrumental Composition, and eventually going platinum twelve times. In 2004, Kenny G showed how well he could play with others when he released the hit duet album, At Last…The Duets Album, which featured Kenny G alongside some of music's biggest stars.
Kenny G continues his iconic career in 2011 as he continues to release romantic and sensual albums and play equally sensuous tour dates. As of July, Kenny G is finishing up European tour dates on his 2011 concert schedule before returning to the US on August 28. After August 30, Kenny G will take a break before tour dates in December, so take this opportunity to see Kenny G before his concert schedule in 2011 ends.
