KRISTEENYOUNG is a piano/keyboard and drums "rock" duo, in the golden years sense of the word, when rock was simultaneously adventurous, original, scary and fun. Think saw-toothed riffs reminiscent of JIMMY PAGE and tub-thumping, bootknocking drums born of the same era and you're halfway there. On top of that, there's the otherworldly vocals and lyrics that you have to hear to believe. The pair is made up of singer, writer, pianist/keyboardist, Kristeen Young and drummer "Baby" Jeff White.
Kristeen's distinctive voice is the best new voice in rock. She bashes, slams and bangs her piano/keyboard in a rock-riff manner, while running it through effects pedals to make it sound like a cross between a piano and guitar. Then there's the drums. Think John Bohnam meets Timbaland on Keith Moon Street.
KRISTEENYOUNG have just completed recording their SIXTH full-length album, MUSIC FOR STRIPPERS, HOOKERS, AND THE ODD ON-LOOKER.
It is the fourth of KRISTEENYOUNGs albums to be produced by legendary record producer, TONY VISCONTI. The first album, BREASTICLES, received widespread praise from the press, including 3 1/2 out of 4 stars in ROLLING STONE and featured a duet between DAVID BOWIE and Kristeen. The second album, X ("ten"), was rated one of the TOP 50 ALBUMS OF 2005 in Germany, by ECLIPSED MAGAZINE, and featured a duet between BRIAN MOLKO (PLACEBO) and Kristeen. The third album THE ORPHANS has been called an instant classic and a masterpiece by fans and critics alike. It was recorded live with minimal overdubs and was a return to their more stripped-down, piano/drums sound of 1997's self-produced ENEMY. Two singles, LONDON CRY and KILL THE FATHER were released from THE ORPHANS on MORRISSEY's Attack imprint on Sanctuary records. MUSIC FOR STRIPPERS, HOOKERS, AND THE ODD ON-LOOKER is scheduled for release by late 2008. It includes a duet with PATRICK VAUGHN STUMP of FALL OUT BOY.
