While nailing down what exact musical style of Montreal conforms to would result in mental exacerbation, there is one simple fact: of Montreal is dead set on changing the face of traditional music. From their appearance, to the incorporation of classic and avant-garde literature in their lyrics , to their tour dates that border on performance art, of Montreal is changing the way people think about the music industry. of Montreal's latest album, False Priest combines the band's signature chaotic sound with more organic instrumentation; a sound that can be found on of Montreal's summer tour dates in 2011.

of Montreal was formed by frontman Kevin Barnes before he moved to Athens, Georgia in the mid-90s. There he met Derek Almstead and Bryan Poole, who were both a part of bands that performed for the Elephant 6 collective. As of Montreal began gaining members, the band slowly became a part of the collective and its members would often be featured on albums. The band began to receive more widespread recognition upon the release of The Gay Parade in 1999 and sparked a string of successful and surreal concept albums. This would briefly end on the 2002 album, Aldhils Arboretum, which didn't contain a concept and featured a more dance-oriented, mainstream sound. The album was hugely successful and earned of Montreal their first tour dates in the UK.

However, the tour featured increasing tensions within the band and Kevin Barnes wrote of Montreal's next four albums -- Satanic Panic in the Attic, The Sunlandic Twins, Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer?, and Skeletal Lamping -- mostly by himself, with the other band members appearing mostly on tour dates. Barnes did similarly with his latest album, False Priest, which features contributions by Solange Knowles and Janelle MonĂ¡e. The album has received rave reviews; even from the "Dean of Critics" Robert Christgau, who panned some of of Montreal's earlier albums.

In celebration of the album's success, of Montreal has been touring constantly, including summer and fall tour dates in 2011. Most of of Montreal's remaining 2011 tour dates are centered in the southern United States, including concert dates at the 80/35 Festival in Des Moines, the Escape to New York Festival in Southampton, and the North Coast Music Festival in Chicago. Be sure to check Eventful for information on all of of Montreal's tour dates in 2011.
