Rock music is one of a kind, because it never grows old. There will always be fans of heavy guitar riffs, racing pulses, and emotion through electrifying melodies.
The music variety in Bulgaria is quite large, but there is always a place for something new and fresh, like Pimp Switch Sequence. They are a band that aims to revive the rock’n’roll culture, while creating innovative music in their own way. This is a band that deserves to be heard.
Everything starts in 2005 in Thessaloniki, Greece, as a simple high school project named Way Out, which later became Pimp Switch Sequence(PSS). The new name was inspired by a walk on the route to the top of mount Olympus. It symbolises the desire that the band has to bring back the analogue music and the time when people recorded with real instruments and rock music was mainstream and part of everyday life. (where it belongs)
On the 13th of February 2014, PSS introduced their song “Мечта” (Dream) and the music video of the song. Sooner after this the talented band received a nomination for BG(Bulgarian) Radio’s annual awards for BG music video, BG song, and BG band.
On the 21st of April 2014, the band made the first ever live stream concert on YouTube in Bulgaria. Sandra, Leny, Svetoslav and Konstantin live streamed from a professional recording studio. The set list of the band contained some of their hard rock songs with contemporary and memorable melodies such as Soul Beggar, Going Home and “Мечта” (Dream) amongst other original songs.
Pimp Switch Sequence (PSS) define their genre as a hard rock. However many songs feature different segments borrowed from other styles of this vast music genre.
The band name means:
Pimp - which represents today’s mainstream music - R&B, rap and the digital music genres
Switch - is what the band aims to achieve, to return rock to its rightful place and encourage artists to record music with the use of analogue technology.
Sequence - is just the method that the band uses in order to initiate that change.
