This band is like...effen amazing. They have sucessfully combined rock and classical music and manged to master various genres. Add Yoshiki's beautiful piano compositions and his inhuman drumming skills to Hide's god-like guitar hands, the proficient Pata and Heath, and then you finally put Toshi with his voice that perfectly blends with soft ballads and immersed screaming...you've got it...that equals X Japan. Even for people who hate heavy metal won't be able to deny the beauty of X Japan's works of art. A good intro to X Japan would be to get their 1993 mini-album Art of Life, an approximately 30 minute song, which fluctuates from melancholic piano pieces to heavy guitar riffs and solos. Surprisingly the whole thing blends well. I bet not alot of bands could play this song as well as X Japan did...which was nearly perfect...like 99.99% perfect. The reason all the pianos, violins, electric guitars, and the other instruments blend so well together is because of Yoshiki. Having played piano from the age of 5, Yoshiki cannot only blend these arrangements so near perfection...he can also play them so giftedly. One of the other interesting characters of X Japan is the lead guitarist Hide. When you have perfect fingers for soft, sorrowful ballads and fast, furious songs, a mysterious personality, and long red hair your likely to be come one of the most talented and most popular members of X Japan. Ever since he was a kid Yoshiki wanted to be a famous rock star. It was not until 1980 (when he was 16) that he go the chance to work toward this goal by starting a band with Toshi , X (As it was called back then), who was heading for medical school. The many members came and went over the years. It was not until 1987 when Toshi and Yoshiki found musicians who could help him reach his childhood dream. In 1987 Hide, Taiji (former bassist), and Pata joined X and released their first album in 1988, Vanishing Vision. People noticed their talent very quickly. In 1989 their 2nd album, Blue Blood, was released, and in 1991 they released their third album, Jealousy. Both received unprecedented popularity. Taiji gave his place to Heath in 1992 due to dissagreements he had with Yoshiki. The same year they changed their name to X Japan because they were trying to get popular in the western world. Unfortunately their was a band called X already in that side of the world so they had to change their name to receive some recognition from the western world. X Japan continued to amaze people with every album until their last album, Dahlia, released in 1996. Fans were surprised to hear the band was splitting in 1997. When Toshi, the vocalist left the band, it seemed pointless to go on. Since then Yoshiki has had a thriving solo career (Viloet UK) and his own record company, Extasy Records. Pata and Heath teamed up again to start a new band named Dope HEADz. Pata also found a second home in Ra:IN, a mostly instrumental new trio. hides subsequent solo career as a lead singer and guitarist tragically ended prematurely when he was found dead by what appears to be suicide. His legend and that of his former band lives on and probably still will for decades to come.
