      Bio

Born in Kenner, Louisiana, Batiste's musical career began at a young age, when he joined the Batiste Brothers Band with his siblings. After attending the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts alongside classmate Trombone Shorty, he released his debut album, Times in New Orleans in 2005.

While attending Julliard in New York, he formed the backing band Stay Human, consisting of bassist Phil Kuehn, drummer Joe Taylor, and saxophonist Eddie Barbash. Batiste and Stay Human quickly earned a reputation in the national jazz scene, mostly through their varied live performances. Together, Batiste and the group released their debut EP in 2011, followed quickly by their debut album, Social Music, in 2013.

In 2015, Batiste & Stay Human became the house band for The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
