I was born premature and very sick. My mother walked away as I fought for my life. At a tender age of six months old, I was adopted into a loving family. I sat with my new grandmother and listened to the Grand Ole’ Opry at age two. My passion for music was nourished by a new family, which gave me opportunities to explore the music world. I began to write my own songs and play the piano by ear. My mother told me that I had brought the sound of music into our home and made it an enjoyable place to live.
Due to my illness at birth, I now walk with a slight limp. As I started school, my peers harassed me because of my walk. So, I held my head high and carried my gift of music in my heart which carried me through difficult times. The power of music helps in life’s struggles. It soothes and encourages one’s soul. Music broadens opportunities by teaching children different forms of artistic expressions, and dreams begin to develop. Some people look and see a girl with a limp, but to me, God has blessed me with so much more – my parents, my family, and my ability to share my gift of music with the world! Music has changed my life forever.
