As one of the premier solo pop artists in the UK, James Blunt has released four platinum albums, sold-out tour dates the world over, and has even snuck into Cockney slang. He achieved mainstream success in 2005 with the hit single "You're Beautiful" and has continued to entertain audiences with his unique voice and mellow pop stylings. Since the release of Blunt's most recent album, Moon Landing, the artist has been performing rigorously around the world.
James Blount fostered a love of music from a young age, learning to play piano, guitar, and violin before joining the military. Blunt commanded NATO forces in Kosovo during the Incident at Pristina, and refused the order to forcibly take the airport from Russian forces; a decision that diverted an international incident. After leaving the military in 2002, Blunt released his debut album, Back to Bedlam in 2003. The album went largely unnoticed, despite acclaimed supporting tour dates, until the release of the third single, "You're Beautiful." The single became a hit and the album went platinum ten times in the UK, as well as winning countless awards. Four years later, Blunt followed up the release with All the Lost Souls which went gold in the UK in just four days and featured the hit single "1973."
His 2010 album, Some Kind of Trouble, sold over 100,000 copies in its first week and has established the artist as a serious mainstream musician. Critics praised the record as a "step in the right direction for Blunt" and applauded the evolution of his melodic, romantic style.
On the strength of its single "Bonfire Heart", Blunt's fourth album, Moon Landing has continued to make James Blunt a commanding name in pop music. The album rocked the top of the UK charts and has both fans and critics wondering what's next for this powerhouse performer.
