      Bio

Liam Gallagher didn't become interested in a musical career until he was in his later teens, eventually joining a band called The Rain with friend Paul "Guigsy" McGuigan and Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs. It wasn't until Liam's older brother, Noel, joined the band that the group began to take off, eventually changing their name to Oasis. The band's first studio album, Definitely Maybe, quickly became the fastest selling record in UK history, due in part to the passionate vocals and controversial public persona of frontman Liam. Oasis's second album, (What's the Story) Morning Glory, catapulted Liam into superstardom, and made him the tip of the Britpop movement in the 90s.

As Oasis' success continued to build at an exponential rate, tensions between Liam and his brother Noel began to rise, much as they had during the pair's childhood. After numerous, temporary departures by Noel, the fighting finally came to a head in in 2009, when the two engaged in a wrestling match backstage at the Rock En Seine Festival, after which Noel left Oasis and signaled the band's end. Liam and Noel's relationship never fully recovered.

However, Liam and other members of the band (Gem Archer and Andy Bell) continued to write new material, eventually forming the group Beady Eye. While Gallagher had stated that the process was extremely organic and casual, he had high hopes that his new work would surpass the work he had done with Oasis. Beady Eye's debut album, Different Gear, Still Speeding, was released in 2011, and featured equal songwriting and instrumentation credits between Gallagher, Archer, and Bell. The album received mixed reviews, mostly due to overly critical comparisons between the album and the music of Oasis. Regardless, the record shot to No. 3 on the UK Albums Chart.

Beady Eye was a headliner at a Japan Tsunami Disaster benefit concert just a few months later; a hugely successful event organized by Gallagher himself. Beady Eye's sophomore album, BE, was released in 2013, and received many more positive reviews than the group's previous effort. The record even beat its predecessor by one spot on the British charts, peaking at No. 2. Unfortunately, just as Beady Eye was beginning to settle into their groove, Liam announced in 2014 that the group had disbanded.

Gallagher re-surfaced in 2015, playing original, acoustic songs at a pub in Charlestown, Ireland. When asked if he was planning a solo career, he vehemently denounced the idea. However, just a year later, Gallagher stated in an interview that he would be releasing original songs as a solo artist, noting his previous hypocrisy on the subject. In 2017, he released his first album as a solo artist, As You Were.
