      MORE INFO ABOUT Lucy Dacus

      Bio

Born and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Lucy Dacus left Virginia Commonwealth University to pursue her music career in New York City. It was there where she performed her first show, recorded her first single ("I Don't Wanna Be Funny Anymore"), and began work on her debut album, all in 2015. With the help of childhood friends who studied music production, No Burden became a breakout hit and earned the singer-songwriter high profile appearances at Lollapalooza, CBS This Morning, London Calling, and NPR's Tiny Desk.

In 2018, Dacus released Historian, which received even wider acclaim than her previous release. Critics praised her richer sound, emotionally complex and compelling lyrics, and layered instrumentals.
